  • Discovery Green: Great city views, restaurants, next to the Convention Center

  • Houston Zoo : Awesome Zoo! Next to Hermann Park

  • Rice University : Beautiful Open Campus- Check out Founder’s Court area!

  • Farm Life! A few favorite locations: Froberg Farms, Old MacDonald Farm, George Ranch. Each location offers a variety of activities such as berry picking, petting zoos, visiting farm houses, and more.

  • Water Wall

HOW TO GET AROUND HOUSTON

  • There is a metro rail train in the downtown area.

  • Uber is a good option if you don’t have a car.

  • A car is most recommended, especially if you want to drive outside of the city like to NASA Space Center Houston. There is usually enough parking downtown, but plan on paying for it.Houston Rodeo

SPECIAL EVENTS IN HOUSTON: RODEO

  • The Houston Rodeo runs during the month of February or March.

  • The daily ticket includes musical artists (oftentimes big names Country Music Concerts), carnival entry, and rodeo viewing.

  • Watch the livestock and rodeo events.

FOOD FAVORITES IN HOUSTON

  • BBQ! Smoked beef brisket, pork ribs, and sausage. A favorite location is Pinkerton’s BBQ.

  • Mexican. Lots of great options. Try an al Pastor Taco. Ninfas

  • Vietnamese: Jessica loves Kim Son. Get the egg rolls and fresh spring rolls.

  • Soul Food: Viola & Agnes

  • Ice cream: Milk & Sugar

GREAT DAY TRIP IDEA FROM HOUSTON

WHEN TO VISIT HOUSTON

  • It can be hot and humid much of the year. Bring water along and be ready to sweat a bit.

  • February, March, and November are more mild weather and a great time to visit.
